The Meaning
Providing a helping hand to establish a Dharmic Organization or a Temple is equivalent to performing multitudes of Yagnas. It results in the fulfillment of earthly and materialistic desires and the attainment of the ultimate salvation of the soul. The name of such a devotee will be remembered forever by the entire community that benefits from their generosity.
A Message to Our Community
Dear Astikas of Chicagoland,
All of you have participated in and benefited from the various spiritual activities conducted by our organization. We now seek to provide a framework to receive continuous, multi-generational benefits by inviting you to participate in strengthening our foundation.
The Veda Dharmashala was envisioned by our Acharya to ensure that our future generations, raised here in the United States, remain apprised of the importance and meaning of Sanatana Dharma. Our mission is to enable a sincere appreciation, adherence, and practice of our faith.
Our Core Objectives
-
Spiritual Guidance & Priest Services: Providing expert guidance for all rituals prescribed in Sanatana Dharma—ranging from Shantis and House Warmings to Sathabhishekam, Naming Ceremonies, and Weddings.
-
Support for Final Rites: Offering compassionate services for last rites in accordance with our Dharma, from cremation through the thirteenth-day activities, including Pitru Yagna and Anna Daana.
-
Preserving Lineage & Traditions: While the first generation of Dharmics in the US is sincere in performing duties toward their departed parents, there is often a concern regarding the next generation. We address the anxieties surrounding the negative consequences of unperformed Pitru Yagnas—such as delays in finding a soulmate, domestic disturbances, and other perturbations—by providing the necessary framework, direction, and resources.
-
Education for the Future: Continuing our Sunday School program to provide the essence of Sanatana Dharma to current and future generations remains a primary goal.
-
Establishing Sanctity: To formalize our operations, we will establish a dedicated Hanuman Temple, offering prayers for world tranquility and celebrating all major Hindu festivals.
